Lanzarote - the lunar landscape on Earth! Part ||
La Cueva de los Verdes (The Cave of the Greens)
Located just 1 kilometer from the Jameos del Agua, it belongs to an underground pipe system of about 6 km of length. Caves and galleries emerged during a prehistoric eruption of the Monte de La Corona volcano more than 4,000 years ago. The visit lasts about 45 minutes, travel approximately 2 km.
El Golfo (The Gulf)
In very few places you can have the privilege of seeing a crater at sea level. The Gulf formed due to the eruptions of 1730. The crater has been flooded with seawater with a greenish color, produced by the algae found on its surface.
The combination of colors attracts the attention of all those who look out over the viewpoint. The bright green of the lagoon contrasts with the intense blue of the ocean, the black of the strip of sand and the reddish rock formations that frame the image. You can descend to the lagoon by a steep slope.
Los Hervideros (Boiling Waters)
Los Hervideros, a complex of caves and blow holes are located to the north of the Playa Blanca resort (southern part of Lanzarote island) towards El Golfo. They were formed by a lava flow meeting the Atlantic ocean back in the 18th century. The result is a peculiar landscape with amazing shades of black, red and blue.
The best time to visit Los Hervideros during high tides or big waves.

Playa Papagayo (Papagayo Beach)
In the Natural Reserve of the Ajaches, in the south of the island, and very close to the Playa Blanca resort, are located the most beautiful and least visited beaches of Lanzarote. It might be the fact that you have to pay 3 euros per vehicle and have to travel a dirt road without asphalt that throw back many tourist.
Perhaps the most famous of the Ajaches beaches is the Playa Papagayo, a small cove of golden sand and crystalline water of turquoise tones, , with views to “Islote de Lobos” and the neighboring Fuerteventura, surrounded by cliffs.
It has couple of services such as parking and a small restaurant.

Playa Chica
Playa Chica, located in the municipality of Puerto del Carmen, as the name suggests, is a small beach with a family character, perfectly delimited by two natural breakwaters of volcanic rock. Ideal for snorkeling - just a few meters away from the coast you can see a lot of fish, some of considerable size. In fact, it is one of the most popular spots on the island for scuba divers.
Famara Beach of Caleta de Famara
Famara Beach is located in the north area in Caleta de Famara, a small and picturesque coastal town.
It’s a huge beach, ideal for surf lovers. The six kilometer majestic beach is sheltered by the mountainous cliff that receives the highest point of the island, PeƱas del Chache. The wind makes it the favorite beach for aquatic sports such as kite and windsurfing, but the less adventurous sometimes make a pilgrimage here just to eat the fresh fish with wrinkled potatoes of the chiringuito.
